Hi, my name is Jonathan and I’m a UX designer. I started at frog design in 2006, a world-renowned digital design consultancy. While at frog design, I was able to work on projects for lots of great companies, like Microsoft, Motorola, Sprint, and Yahoo! My work focused on consumer apps, software for the new wave of connected smart devices (like thermostats, printers and GPSes), and notably worked with HP and Dell to create an ecosystem of consumer apps for their new touch-enabled desktop computers, mobile devices, and set-top boxes.
In 2010, I moved to San Francisco and joined Apple. I began on the Pro Apps team, where I was a part of the team that redesign Final Cut Pro and then iMovie for Mac. I also worked on iAd Producer, a now-defunct no-code web-app builder for rich-experience mobile ads. I moved to the iWork team and stayed there for 9 years, designing a suite of apps for presentations, word-processing, and spreadsheets. I led the team to introduce real-time collaboration into the iWork apps. For 6 years, I managed the iWork design team of 7 interaction and visual designers through 5 major releases and 16 version updates of the iWork apps.
After over a decade, I left Apple to begin a journey of exploring new industry problem-spaces and technologies. I joined Vistaprint to work on an AI/ML product that generated logo designs for small business owners that matched the quality of human freelance designers. I also worked at Magic Labs, a leading Web3/blockchain WAAS (wallet-as-a-service) provider, concepting new use-cases to bring blockchain technology into mainstream relevance.
As a designer, I excel at problems that are complex or require deep technical understanding. As a design manager, I focus on individual mentoring/coaching and fostering a team dynamic of offering feedback and collectively learning from each other. As a design leader, I know how to define and communicate a design vision that aligns and motivates organizations of engineers, product managers, marketing, and executives. I know how to ship at scale while holding a high bar to user experience, quality, and craft.
